About Mayank Agarwal

Mayank Agarwal is an Indian International cricketer who plays as a right-handed top-order batsman. Mayank made his international debut for the India cricket team on 26 December 2018 and this was against Australia at the MCG. In the Indian Premier League, he plays for Punjab Kings and in domestic cricket, he plays for the Karnataka cricket team.

Early Life of Mayank Agarwal

Agarwal was born in Bangalore
on 16 February 1991. His Dad Anurag Agarwal happens to be the CEO of Natural Remedies, the US$35 million healthcare company. In Bangalore, Agarwal studied at the Bishop Cotton Boys’ School and Jain University, where he was teammates with K. L. Rahul and Karun Nair.

Achievements of Mayank Agarwal

With his performances in the Under-19 Cooch Behar Trophy in 2008-09 and 2010 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup, Agarwal came to prominence. He was also the leading run-getter for India. In 2010, he was also adjudged Man of the Series in the Karnataka Premier League.

On 26 December 2018, he made his Test debut against Australia scoring seventy-six runs in his first innings at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. This was the highest score by an Indian cricketer on a Test debut in Australia. Mayank played the 4th test also and finished the series with 195 runs.

In the first Test match against South Africa, in October 2019, Agarwal scored his maiden century in Test cricket and he went on to convert his maiden test hundred into his first double century in a Test match, before being dismissed for 215 runs of only 371 balls .

He became only the 2nd Indian opener after Sehwag (2009-10) to score back to back centuries against SA.

Mayank hit his second double century in only his eighth Test match, at Indore against Bangladesh, in November 2019, scoring his current highest score of 243 in 330 balls. He broke the legendary record of Don Bradman to become the second-fastest batsman to score two double centuries, having attained this in only 12 innings.

In his first Test against Australia on 19 December 2020, he scored his 1,000th run in Tests, becoming the third fastest batsman of India, to reach 1000 runs in Tests.

Since 6 June 2018, Mayank is happily married to Aashita Sood the daughter of Indian Police Service officer Praveen Sood.
