Bollywood is one of India’s most happening film industries, where hundreds of films will be released every year. Most of the time, the screenwriter keep some actor in mind and pen the script, but sometimes they may miss the actor on the sets due to his/her prior commitments.

Veteran Bollywood Analyst cum Business Transformation Expert says, “Jaise daane daane pe likha hai khaane wala ka naam, similarly every movie, every role has its own destiny. Gabbar Singh’s role was offered to Danny Denzongpa, which he rejected, and finally, Amjad Khan did it, and it became history. A negative role in a abbas Mustan was rejected by Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, and a TV actor who did it, which made him one of the biggest superstars ever. Yes, I am talking about SRK in Baazigar. Also, the villain role in Darr was rejected by Aamir, which was again lapped by Shah Rukh Khan, and it became an iconic role of Indian cinema. It’s all destiny.”

Hirav Shah picks out some replacements that have taken place in recent times in Bollywood movies:

1. John Abraham, replaced Sushant Singh Rajput in Romeo Akbar Walter

Sushant Singh Rajput was the first choice for the lead role in the spy thriller Romeo Akbar Walter, and even the motion posters were released by the makers in which Sushant Singh Rajput was featured. However, after dramatic circumstances, SSR backed out as he was pretty busy with other projects such as Drive and Raabta. Later, the makers finalized John Abraham for the lead role in the movie.

2. Ayushmann Khurrana replaced Harshvardhan Kapoor in Andhadhun

Andhadhun can easily be called one of the best Hindi movies of 2018. It also proved to be a milestone in actor Ayushmann Khurrana who was conferred with the National Film Award for Best Actor for the lead role in the movie. The critics praised the film and even performed pretty well at the box office. But the twist in the tale is that not many people are aware that this movie was offered to Harshvardhan Kapoor, who agreed to work in the movie but later left the project as he had some creative differences with the director Sriram Raghvan. It is also being said that Raghvan wanted his lead actor to attend the workshop to play the role better, but Harshvardhan was not ready for it at that time, which turned into a luck factor for Ayushmann Khurrana.

3) Shahid Kapoor replaced Arjun Kapoor in Kabir Singh

2019 released Kabir Singh, a remake of Telugu movie, Arjun Reddy was one of the biggest hits of the year, and Shahid Kapoor performed so brilliantly that imagining someone else in that role is impossible now. Meanwhile, inside reports say that first Arjun Kapoor was roped in for the role of Kabir Singh, but the director Sandeep Reddy Vanga wanted to cast Shahid Kapoor in this role, so Arjun Kapoor left the project.

4) Supriya Pathak in All replaced Smriti Irani Is Well

Abhishek Bachchan, Rishi Kapoor, Asin, and Supriya starrer All Is Well, released in 2015, performed miserably at the box office. In the movie, actor-turned-politician Smriti Irani was supposed to play the character of Abhishek Bachchan’s mother. Still, as she was appointed as the HRD minister and got busy with her ministerial work, she was replaced with Supriya Pathak in the movie after canning a few scenes.

5) Govinda’s role was deleted from Jagga Jasoos

It is not well-established news that actor Govinda has also played a character in 2017 released Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif starrer Jagga Jasoos. As per the sources, the film director Anurag Basu felt Govinda’s role didn’t fit the storyline, which was changed after the scenes were shot. Ranbir Kapoor even apologized to Govinda for the same.

6) Harshvardhan Rane replaced Abhishek Bachchan in Paltan

2018 released JP Dutta’s directorial Paltan that was based on the Indo-China clashes that took place in 1967 after the 1962 war. Initially, Abhishek Bachchan was supposed to play the character of Major Harbhajan Singh. Still, just before the shooting started, Abhishek Bachchan backed out from the project, and the team replaced him with Harshvardhan Rane.

7) Ranbir Kapoor replaced by Ranveer Singh in Dil Dhadakne Do

The role of Kabir Mehra from Dil Dhadakne Do was earlier offered to Ranbir Kapoor, and he was quite keen on playing the character as he was also getting a chance to act with her cousin sister in this movie as Kareena Kapoor Khan was the first choice for the role of Ayesha Mehra. But due to unknown reasons, Ranbir Kapoor stepped out of the project, and eventually, Kareena also left the project. Later, for the same role, Ranveer Singh was roped in, and Priyanka Chopra Jonas was brought onboard for Ayesha Mehra’s role.

As per the buzz, Zoya Akhtar, who directed Dil Dhadakne Do, once again offered a role to Ranbir Kapoor in Gully Boy, but again he turned it down as it was not the main lead role, say sources.
