For the past few years, South films are clearly dominating the Hindi market. In the last few months, three of the biggest blockbusters in the Hindi belts have been films from the South in the form of Pushpa-The Rise, RRR, and KGF Chapter 2. As South films are performing beyond imagination in North Indian markets, discussions on social media are going on about regional cinema taking over Hindi cinema.

Veteran Bollywood Analyst cum Business Transformation Expert Hirav Shah says, “Though a couple of straight Hindi films are also working at the box office, like Sooryavanshi, Gangubai Kathiawadi & The Kashmir Files, the moviegoers and trade experts in the North belt are in a strong impression that South films are ruling the roost in the North circuits. The failure of Bollywood biggest stars to deliver good content is also a reason behind the North audience tilting towards the South films.”

Now, we bring you the list of Bollywood stars who failed to deliver a hit with their last film.

Bollywood stars who failed to deliver a hit with their last film

1) Salman Khan

Superstar Salman Khan’s pre-pandemic release Dabangg 3 was a flop at the box office. Last year, Salman Khan’s action drama, Radhe, which had a simultaneous release in the theatres and on the digital platform Zee5, failed miserably to impress the audience. Even his last film, Antim, in which he is seen in a supporting role alongside Aayush Sharma, also ended up as a flop at the box office.

2) Shah Rukh Khan

SRK’s last big-screen release was the 2018 film, Zero, which ended up as a big flop at the box office. The film even failed to even go past the Rs 100 crore mark at the ticket windows. SRK’s experiment didn’t work, but he won the hearts for at least trying something different.

3. Aamir Khan

Aamir Khan was last seen in a film titled Thugs of Hindostan. Even though the film collected around Rs 140 crore at the box office, it failed to impress the audience and saw a loss of close to Rs 200 crore. The actor is currently working on a film titled Laal Singh Chaddha, which is scheduled for a theatrical release on August 11th.

4) Akshay Kumar

Akshay Kumar’s last film, Bachchhan Paandey, was released in March on the occasion of Holi. Despite being a masala entertainer, the film failed to find an audience and even failed to cross Rs 50 crore collections. The Kashmir Files wave destroyed Bachhan Paandey completely.

5) Ranveer Singh

Despite positive word of mouth, Ranveer Singh starrer sports biopic 83 ended up as a massive flop at the box office. Trade reports say that the movie is said to be one of the biggest disasters of all time in Indian cinema as it saw close to Rs 100 crore loss.

6) John Abraham

John Abraham’s last film, Attack, a sci-fi action flick, is a box office disaster. Before Attack, John Abraham’s masala drama, Satyameva Jayate 2, was also a huge flop.

Hirav Shah concludes by saying, “Just as the first day collections of Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff’s WAR seemed unbeatable at one point in time, the figures of KGF Chapter 2 look untouchable. But as we know, “Sabka Ek Baap Hota Hai,” there are not 1 but 4 potential record-breakers who can challenge Yash’s great film at the box office. The list includes Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha, Prabhas’ Adipurush, Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan, and Salman Khan’s Tiger 3.”

On few peculiar occasions, after a grand announcement, things don’t work out, and the makers have to shelve some interesting projects. And remakes of legendary bollywood films which got shelved after announcement in recent times ups and downs happens in any business for any industry, Let’s hope Bollywood is back to its winning ways!
