Bollywood, which has always been considered the heart of our cinema, has produced many blockbusters and path-breaking films over the years. However, ever since the covid-19 pandemic has broken out, Bollywood has been struggling badly to find audiences in theaters. Apart from a few movies like Sooryavanshi, Gangubai Kathiawadi, and The Kashmir Files, almost all other Bollywood films have flopped at the box office over the last year.

Darlings

Star heroine Alia Bhatt turned into a producer, and as her maiden project, she is bankrolling Darlings in association with Gauri Khan and Gaurav Verma. Darlings is one of the much-awaited films which stars Alia Bhatt, Shefali Shah, Vijay Varma, Roshan Mathew, and others in the lead roles. The film is going to skip its theatrical release and opt for a direct-to-OTT release on Netflix. Said to be a dark comedy about the highs and lows of a mother-daughter relationship, Shefali Shah will be seen playing Alia’s mother in Darlings. Jasmeet K Reen is the director of the film.

Shamshera

Shamshera is one of the highly-anticipated films coming from Bollywood in 2022. Starring Ranbir Kapoor in the titular role, Shamshera, was initially set to release in 2020, but Covid delayed the release plans. Apart from Ranbir, the film also stars Vaani Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt in key roles. Set in the pre-Independence era in India, the film is the Indian adaptation of Howard Pyle’s novel Merry Adventures of Robin Hood, and Ranbir Kapoor’s look, which was unveiled a few months back, has been receiving a good response from all quarters.

Laal Singh Chaddha

Laal Singh Chaddha is an upcoming Bollywood film slated to release in August. Featuring Aamir Khan in the lead role, the film also has Kareena Kapoor and Naga Chaitanya in key roles. Laal Singh Chaddha is the Hindi remake of the American film Forrest Gump.

Cirkus

Cirkus starring Ranveer Singh in the lead role, is a comedy film where the hero plays a double role for the first time in his career.

Co-starring Pooja Hegde, Jacqueline Fernandez, Johnny Lever, Sanjay Mishra, Varun Sharma, and many others, the film is the official adaptation of the 1982 movie Angoor, based on Shakespeare’s play The Comedy of Errors. This Rohit Shetty directional is slated to hit the screens in December.

Phone Bhoot

Starring Katrina Kaif, Siddhant Chaturvedi, and Ishaan Khatter in the key roles, Phone Bhoot is an upcoming horror-comedy drama. This Gurmeet Singh directorial will be released on July 15.

Liger

Liger is a sports action drama that stars Vijay Deverakonda in the lead role. This Puri Jagannadh directional film also stars Ananya Panday, Mike Tyson, and Ramya Krishnan in key roles. The film is slated to hit the screens on August 25.

Brahmastra part 1: Shiva

Brahmastra is an upcoming Bollywood trilogy film that stars Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt as the lead pair. Co-starring Amitabh Bachchan, Mouni Roy, and Nagarjuna Akkineni in key roles, the first part of the trilogy titled Shiva is slated to hit the screens on September 9.

As per the reports, in addition to a standard format, the film will screen in IMAX 3D and 3D across the globe.

Bhediya

Bhediya is a comedy-horror genre film from Bollywood releasing this year. The film is the third installment of Dinesh Vijan’s horror-comedy universe after Roohi and Stree. Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon will play the lead roles, alongside Janhvi Kapoor and Flora Saini, reprising their roles from the initial installments. The film is likely to hit the screens worldwide on November 25.

Pippa

Starring Ishaan Khatter, Mrunal Thakur, Soni Razdan, and Priyanshu Painyuli in prominent roles, Pippa explores the story of the Battle of Garibpur and is loosely based on Brigadier Balram Mehta’s book on the 1971 India- Pakistan war. The film is scheduled for a December 9, 2022 release.

Pathaan

Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, John Abraham, and Dimple Kapadia’s spy-action drama, Pathaan, is carrying phenomenal expectations among the audience. Being directed by Siddharth Anand, the film promises to be a thrilling spectacle with never-before witnessed scenes. The film is slated to hit the screens in January 2023 and is expected to take Bollywood by storm.
