On 16 February 1954, Michael Holding was born as the youngest of four children to Ralph and Enid Holding who lived in Half Way Tree, Kingston and his family was always passionate about Cricket, ever since he was a child.

As far as marriage is concerned, Holding first married a Sri Lankan, who he met when touring Australia in the late ‘70s and their son Ryan was born in 1981. Michael Holding’s Legacy

Michael Holding was an inseparable part of the deadly West Indian pace bowling battery, together with Andy Roberts, Joel Garner, Colin Croft, Wayne Daniel, Malcolm Marshall and Sylvester Clarke, that destroyed opposing batting line-ups in the late seventies and early eighties.

In 1976, early in his Test career, Holding broke the record for best bowling figures in a Test match by a West Indies bowler, 14 wickets for 149 runs (14/149). The record still stands till date.

No wonder, he is widely considered to be one of the greatest bowlers in cricketing history. Known for his fast bowling, the Jamaican born genius represented the West Indies over a 100 times, a testimony to his talent.
