Referred to as the greatest poet in Indian history, he is the only person on the face of the earth to have written national anthems for two countries, India and Bangladesh. Truth to be said, he made what Indian literature is today.

An outstanding poet, a legend of prose, and a perfect philosopher – Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore was an inspiration to many people. Tagore is one of the few Indians to have bagged the Nobel Prize for Gitanjali or Song Offerings in 1913. Gitanjali is a collection of short poems that transcends ace, nationality, age, religion, and gender.

Born on May 7, 1861, Rabindranath Tagore was an exceptional writer, poet, philosopher, and artist. Tagore was a May-born Taurus, who are known for their agility and determination. It won’t be wrong that say that he was much ahead of his peers at the time. Popularly known as the bard of Bengal, Tagore based his writings on bold subjects. His work put women at the forefront and conveyed feminism.

Unfortunately, Tagore lost his life to prostate cancer on August 7, 1941. Even after 80 years of his passing, his legacy lives on.
Here are 4-lessons you must take away from the life of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore

1- Service to others

On a particularly inspiring poem from Gitanjali known as Song 36, Tagore has mentioned,
This is my prayer to thee, my lord – strike, strike at the root of penury in my heart.
Give me the strength lightly to bear my joys and sorrows.
Give me the strength to make my love fruitful in service.
It simply means that our lives are intertwined with the lives of people around us. That is why it is important to offer services to people around us. When we help them, we help ourselves in return. We have to show others that we care about them and they are not alone in their hardships. Showing your support for others can make an impactful difference in how they handle difficult situations.

2- ‘You can’t cross the sea simply by staring at the water’

Time is running out. You can always delay your next assignment or the deadline but never complete it, simply by thinking about it 24 hours*7. Achieving a workplace goal isn’t just about defining it; you will need to deploy the right strategies to achieve it. You need to mentally prepare yourself to stop procrastinating and start working, and that’s how things will be done.

3- ‘The butterfly counts not months but moments, and has time enough.’

It has been a trend nowadays to complain about not having enough time. There is always enough time to do your chores and relax. You just need to have better management of time. Here, creating an effective system for managing your precious hours is the key.

4- ‘If you shut the door to all errors, the truth will be shut out.’

You need to understand that no one is born perfect. We are all bound to make some vague mistake when faced with adversity. It’s human nature to take immense pride in workplace achievements and gloss over mistakes. But, over time, this particular aspect of life can be detrimental. You need to start learning from your mistakes and ensure that there are no further repeats.

Conclusion

Undoubtedly, Tagore still is one of the best literary scholars and artists hailing from India. He not only gave a new life to Bengali literature, music, and art but also brought India global recognition. His words, poems, and verses are celebrated all across the globe for the pure brilliance they create in the mind of the readers. He is and forever will be the country’s Gurudev and a national treasure- opines India’s favorite Astro Strategist Hirav Shah.
