Born on 2 May 1969, Brian Charles Lara is a Trinidadian former international cricketer, widely acknowledged as one of the greatest and finest batsmen of all time.

One of the world’s greatest batsmen Brian Lara had a very early training in correct batting technique. Lara then went on to create records after records and he became arguably, one of the greatest batsmen that the Cricketing world has ever produced.

Lara fathered a daughter called Sydney who was born in 1996 with Trinidadian journalist and model Leasel Rovedas. In later half of 2010, Lara and Rovedas welcomed another daughter, Tyla.

Former Durham County Cricket Club receptionist and British lingerie model Lynnsey Ward has also been Lara’s girlfriend for a brief period.

1. To Prepare For The Worst

Lara always believed and propagated that -“If one wanted to be a great cricketer or a good person, one had to prepare oneself for the most dangerous or most difficult times in life. This is how one can improve and empower himself/herself.”

Brian Lara’s Legacy:

Lara holds innumerable cricketing records, including the record for the highest individual score in first-class cricket, with 501 not out for Warwickshire against Durham at Edgbaston in 1994, which is also the only quintuple-century in first-class cricket, ever….

After scoring 400 not out at Antigua during the 4th test against England in 2004, Lara became record holder
for the highest individual score in a Test innings.

From early, Brian Lara, with world records for highest Test (375 and 400*) and first-class scores (501), established his appetite for big runs and Lara is one of those who certainly defined the era of batsmanship.

In 1994 and 1995, Lara was awarded the “Wisden Leading Cricketer in the World” and Lara is also one of only three cricketers to receive the prestigious BBC Overseas Sports Personality of the Year.

On 27 November 2009, Brian Lara was appointed honorary member of the Order of Australia. Lara was inducted to the ICC’s Hall of Fame on 14 September 2012.
