Hirav Shah’s Views on The Trend of Divorces in South Film Industry

In the days of our forefathers, the word divorce was a taboo that people tended to shy away from. The few who separated from their spouses then hid the news from the public because people held family ties in high esteem, and divorce was never an option, says veteran Movie Astrologer cum Business Transformation Expert Hirav Shah.

HIrav Shah adds, “The same cannot be said now when the incidence of divorce has gone up exponentially. Not even the stringent process of getting a divorce has discouraged couples from approaching courts for marriage dissolution.

The fresh couple to join the separation list of divorced couples is Kollywood Superstar Rajinikanth’s elder daughter Aishwarya and actor Dhanush. The couple, who married eighteen years ago and even blessed with a twelve-year-old child, announced their separation in the evening hours of January 17th. Revealing the same, Dhanush and Aishwarya took their individual social media platforms and announced the same.

It is a well-known fact that Telugu cinema’s happening couple Naga Chaitanya and Samantha have announced their separation last October. Hailing from legendary Akkineni Nageshwara Rao’sRao’s family, Naga Chaitanya is the grandson of ANR and the son of Nagarjuna, who loved his co-star Samantha Ruth Prabhu who worked with him in films such as Em Maya Chesaave, Auto Nagar Suriya, Manam, Majili. After convincing both sides’ families, the lovebirds tied the knot in 2017. However, after leading a happy and joyful married life for almost five years, the couple announced their separation in October 2021, which shocked many in the industry. A couple of months back, before announcing their split, Samantha removed Akkineni’sAkkineni’s surname from her name on all social media platforms and raised doubts about her relationship status with Chaitanya.

While the entire film industry is still buzzing about the separation of Naga Chaitanya and Samantha, on January 17th, as a shock to the Telugu film industry, news came out that as Megastar Chiranjeevi’s younger daughter Sreeja removed her husband Kalyaan Dhev’s name from her Instagram account and changed it to Sreeja Konidela.

Though Sreeja is yet to open up about her separation with Kalyaan Dhev, the buzz has been circulating that they will make an official announcement regarding the same soon. Now it makes sense why none of the Mega heroes came forward to promote Kalyaan Dhev’s recently released film, Super Machi. It is widely known that the marriage is the second one for both Kalyaan Dhev and Sreeja. Earlier, both of them married someone else and divorced their first partners. Incidentally, both Kalyaan Dhev and Sreeja were blessed with a baby girl a couple of years back. So, it looks like Sreeja is also following Samantha’s footsteps and will be announcing her separation with Kalyaan Dhev officially soon.

Hirav Shah says, “Divorce after 18 years of marriage is often not understood by everyone. Middle-age divorces are also known as silver or diamond splitters or grey divorce. Those not part of the relationship may think there’s no point as a significant part of their life has gone by anyway. But whoever is going through a rough patch knows it better.”

By looking at the back-to-back separation of celebrity couples, it is evident that the trend of separation season is on an unstoppable note in the South India film industry.

Hirav Shah concludes by saying, “A divorce can be handled in a mature and responsible way if both the involved parties agree. Do not force yourself to continue in a dissatisfying marriage because all relationships do not have a happy ending. If you decide to get divorced, think about its impact on you and your kids. Do not take a hasty decision while you are still in the divorce dilemma, as this will have lifelong repercussions not only on you but also on your entire family.
