The celebration of the Holi festival is just around the corner, and the filmmakers are ready to test their luck and come up with various films on several streaming and theatrical box offices during this weekend.

Now, veteran Bollywood Analyst cum Business Transformation Expert Hirav Shah takes a look at the list of films and web shows released this weekend to entertain the audience/netizens.

Jalsa

Starring Vidya Balan and Shefali Shah in the lead roles, Jalsa is directed by Suresh Triveni and jointly produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Vikram Malhotra, Shikhaa Sharam, and Suresh Triveni. The film is all set to skip its theatrical release and opt for an OTT outing on Amazon Prime Video on March 18th. Jalsa revolves around a conflict between a journalist and her cook.

Hirav Shah says, “Jalsa is the pick for this weekend with its grippy and taut narrative sprinkled with sparkling performances by Vidya Balan and Shefali Shah.”

Eternally Confused and Eager for Love

The first season of ‘Eternally Confused and Eager for love’ is a story of a confused twenty-four-year-old boy who makes all the wrong decisions in the hope of finding love is all set for premieres on March 18th exclusively on Netflix. Touted as a romantic comedy, the series stars Vihan Samat and Jim Sarbh, among others, in key roles.

Bachchan Pandey

‘Bachchan Pandey ‘starring Akshay Kumar in the lead role is slated to hit the screens on March 18th as a Holi festival special. The film is a Hindi remake of the 2014 Tamil crime comedy film Jigarthanda.’ While Kriti Sanon is playing the female lead role, Bachchan Pandey is produced by Sajid Nadiadwala.

Hirav Shah says, “The film suffered due to the ongoing The Kashmir Files wave, and even the content is just about average. The film might end up as a failure.”

Windfall

Touted as a crime drama, Windfall film stars Jason Segel and Jesse Plemons in the lead roles. The film is all set for a direct to OTT release on Netflix on March 18th.

Bloody Brothers

Directed by Shaad Ali and produced by Applause Entertainment, Bloody Brothers in a web series falls under the Crime and Drama category. Starring Jaideep Ahalawat, Zeeshan Ayyub, and Shruti Seth in the lead roles, Bloody Brothers is gearing up for an OTT streaming on Zee5 on March 18th.

Hirav Shah says, “This dark crime comedy falls flat on its face and doesn’t have enough steam to engage the audience. Much better content was expected from Shaad Ali, who once gave us films like Saathiya, Bunty Aur Babli.”

Hirav Shah concludes by saying, “Overall, it was a pretty average weekend for the new releases. The only film that is making waves is The Kashmir Files which is on a rampage mode, and more records will be broken in the coming weeks.”
