About Gangubai Kathiawadi:

After creating curiosity among the audience with the teaser released almost a year back, the makers of Gangubai Kathiawadi have unveiled the film’s theatrical trailer on February 4th. Based on one of the chapters from Hussain Zaidi’s popular book Mafia Queens Of Mumbai, Gangubhai Kathiawadi stars Bollywood star heroine Alia Bhatt in the lead role.

The theatrical trailer opens up with the introduction of Gangu, who is in a car just about to do something in her style. Later, a few quick shots on Gangu giving a political speech with which Bhansali made it clear that Gangu isn’t a woman who needs your pity but is a firebrand added with attitude. The trailer goes back in time but never looks at Gangu with a helpless situation as she fights against all odds, and if even pulled down, her motivation remains to be the same.

Gangu Kathiawadi’s Trailer :

Bollywood Astrologer cum Business Transformation Expert Hirav Shah says, “The trailer is a small example to prove that Sanjay Leela Bhansali is a maverick filmmaker, and he is a master in conveying things with the trailer cut. The brilliance of Sanjay is that he only reveals enough to bring you to the theatre and experience his magnum opus on the big screen with equal excitement. Star hero Ajay Devgn makes a flash appearance as Lalaji, but nothing is revealed about his role. The best part of the Gangubai Kathiawadi trailer is that Sanjay Leela Bhansali has not revealed anything about the core theme but made sure it has all that stuff moviegoers expect.”

Gangu Kathiawadi’s Music :

Hirav Shah adds, “While the background score by Sanchit and Ankit Balhara is fresh and unlike other Bhansali movies, the director in Bhansali gave a new style in his presentation, which is good for obvious reasons as most of his recent movies had the same texture. Whether aesthetics or production design, everything looks unique and appropriate for the period drama. Sudeep Chatterjee’s cinematography brings Gangubhai’s world alive and opens doors to enter into Bhansali-created universe.”

History of Gangubai :

Hirav Shah recalls that Gangubai was a small woman who was just five feet tall and commanded huge respect in Kamathipura. She dreamed of becoming a Bollywood actor from a very young age and wanted to come to Mumbai to follow her dreams. After her husband sold her at a brothel, she became a prostitute and started living in a red-light area of Mumbai. She became one of the prominent names of the biggest red-light area of Mumbai known as ‘Kamathipura.’

Connection of Gangubai with Underworld :

Many underworld Mafia people were her customers. She then met with one of the powerful Mafia dons, Karim Lala.

Hirav Shah says, ‘Gangu made Karim her Rakhi brother, as Karim’s gang member once raped her. Karim Lala gave the empire of Kamathipura to his sister Gangubai, and she emerged as one of the Mafia Queens of Mumbai. Gangubai became a powerful and dreaded procurer of Mumbai’s Kamathipura.

HIrav Shah also adds that criticism against Bhansali for glorifying prostitution and the underworld mafia is futile and baseless. Bhansali is known for making larger-than-life cinema with amazing sensibilities. He is just trying to tell a story with his spectacular vision without any propaganda.

Final words for Gangubhai Kathiawadi :

Hirav Shah concludes by saying, “In an overview, the Gangubai Kathiawadi trailer has all elements that a blockbuster film needs and wins in all crafts. Alia Bhatt’s outstanding performance and amazing screen presence from padding artists like Vijay Raaz, Seema Pahwa, and Jim Sarbh, everything in the promotional video, excites and raises expectations for the film even more.

Release date of Gangubai Kathiawadi movie : The film is slated to hit the screens in Hindi and all Southern languages on February 25th,2022.
