Hirav Shah brings you 3-life lessons that everyone must adapt from the great Muhammad Ali:

1- Stick to your values

No matter how famous you get in life, you must take the pledge to stick to your family values. Muhammad was a staunch believer in his values. He declined to get inducted into the army to fight in the Vietnam War.

His reasoning was as follows, “Why should they ask me to put on a uniform and go 10,000 miles from home and drop bombs and bullets on Brown people in Vietnam while so-called Negro people in Louisville are treated like dogs and denied simple human rights?”

Due to this decision, Muhammad was barred from the fighting ring for 4 years (age 25-29). He never regretted his decision to not go to war against Vietnam. This tells us that you need to let your value system influence your decisions. Focus on the process of listening to your core and let the results be as they may. Your intuitions will never fail you.

2- Believe in yourself

Half of the match is won before the tournament starts. I will tell you how. When you are confident in your skills and consider yourself better than your competitor, that feeling of superiority gives you an extra boost.

Muhammad Ali had once said, “I am the greatest. I said that even before I knew I was.” You must realize that your potential to be great exists within you. You don’t need anyone else telling you that you are doing well. Constantly reaffirm yourself. After all, you are your greatest cheerleader.

3- No pain, no gain

I hated every minute of training, but I said don’t quit. Suffer now and live the rest of your life as a champion.” Everything comes at a price. You can’t just sit idle and expect good things to happen to you. You have to work hard to achieve success. Money doesn’t grow on a tree, nor does success. So, start hustling. Start pushing your limits till you achieve the success you are hoping for.

As I mentioned earlier, Muhammad Ali was more than a big name. He was a pacifist. He was a father, son, and husband. He was a black man in a world where people respected whites. He climbed the social ladder and made his presence known in a society that didn’t even give him a chance. I think this demands a certain sense of respect for the man- concludes Business development expert Hirav Shah.
